Huge World of Harry Potter « Result #1 on Apr 14, 2009, 9:06pm »
The year is 1998, winter has come and gone, but the world is still filled with violence and dark magic. In Britain, the Ministry of Magic has completely fallen under the dark visage of Voldemort and has become an extension of his rule. In France, the quiet lawns of the countryside are growing darker as the war in Britain seeps into the cracks of this once idealic landscape. In America, the isolationist policy of their Ministry have taken a serious blow as the school of Salem has fallen to the followers of the Darklord. The world is falling into war along the battle lines of good and evil. Come and make your mark, join either the Death Eaters or the Order of the Phoenix. Begin your fight against Fenrir Greyback's bloodthirsty Brotherhood of the Grim, the diabolical Dolores Umbridge who has regained her power and instituted a reform to transfer all impure students at Hogwarts to Nurmengard prison in France, or attend the student-underground in the Thorne Academy of the Arcane. Arcane School of Magic
Upon your nightstand one morning you awake to see an old piece of rolled up parchment sitting before all your little knick knacks. The paper is stained a light yellow and a red ribbon holds it shut. Upon opening it you read it is an acceptance letter to a school you never applied for. In fact it is a school you have never even heard of but according to the letter it is a very prestigious school. The letter reads.:
Dear Student, you have been accepted into the Arcane school of magic. You have proven yourself to be a true witch and upon your twelfth birthday you have received the ‘calling’ That should explain pretty well the reason all those strange things are happening to you. Ever wondered why you see those shadows medaling around your room at night, black shadows all shapes and sizes wandering about. Well that is the beginning of your ‘Witch Sight’ as we here call it. The ability to see magical folk, the most important being your guardian. Don’t worry, once you get to the school you will be able to see them fully after your guardian shows up.
Oh yes and their was something important I was suppose to write to you, oh yes, this dose mean that by obtaining this gift you are indeed one of the few with the natural gift of magic, therefore you are indeed a witch. Don’t worry none, that is not really a bad thing like they make it up to be in Hollywood. Never trust what they say. All in all you should consider this a great honor. This Monday a black boat will be waiting for ya, come to take you to Magie’s island it will. There we will be waiting for ya. Good luck, oh and don’t let the bosses know but there is a little something I think you should hear. This year is going to be hard for you new kids on account we are dealing with some big problems on the island, but you didn’t hear it from me.
You see rumor has it we has a few hunters skulking about, better I tell you this now. In history as you recall there was something called the burning days, where witches were hunted and burned. Well don’t be to sure of this one, but we may be seeing those days trying to work their way back, and if that is not bad enough we has a dark coven brewing in the storm of all that. Some witches who want to get back at the world, and other’s who stand in their way. Just be careful and watch your back. Oh and remember to give Foxy my regards, she should be in a small den just outside the woods, a nice beast she is. Anyways congratulations on your acceptance to Arcane, may you be guided by light dear student.
We are using the sixth book as canon and then making up the seventh year as we go, though we are including many elements from the seventh book into our main plot. Mini plots between members are not only encouraged but the norm.
It is the last and final year, the year of trials and tribulations. Harry, Hermione, and Ron had returned to Hogwarts in hopes that they might remain, but shortly thereafter the Dark Lord and his followers took over the Ministry and created a totalitarian police state. Using the Imperius Curse Voldemort places the puppet leader Pius Thickenesse as the Minister of Magic, who does everything Voldemort says with a smile. Voldemort also order the taking over of Hogwarts, placing Severus Snape as Headmaster. Death Eaters openly roam the school grounds, patrolling and making sure that the students are behaving, and punishing those they believe are out of line. As the Trio fled the school to save their lives, the Muggle-born students were practically tortured by those who counted themselves as superior.
The Order of the Phoenix seemingly does nothing to protect the students, who have no real means to protect themselves, concerned instead with the matters of the first move, and who will strike first. They prepare themselves for a battle that may or may not come, and in doing so do nothing in the present moment. Those at the Order don't even offer help to Harry, Ron or Hermione in their search for the Horcruxes, essentially leaving the fate of the war in the hands of those that the Order deemed long ago were merely children.
Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a number of others still at the school are doing all they can to prevent evil from taking over everything they have come to know, and life hangs in a delicate balance for everyone. The search for the Horcruxes is on, as is the quest to decipher the last message of Dumbledore, and to figure out exactly what the Hallows are, and what use they will be at the end of things, and if it will help or hinder. At the school Neville has begun anew Dumbledore's Army, gathering students who are dejected by the Order as mere children and not worthy enough to fight. There he teaches them the things he herself learned years ago, with the help of Ginny and Luna. Those three have become a new force at Hogwarts, filling the holes left by Harry et all.
Consider next the darker forces, bubbling and rising to the brim of the Wizarding world. Voldemort is in control of the Ministry, Snape controls Hogwarts. Bellatrix is torturing those who disobey, killing some and simply maiming others. The vile Carrow twins 'teach' at Hogwarts, disciplining those who they deem unworthy and vying to please the Dark Lord as much as they can. Draco has become somewhat of a king at Hogwarts, doing as he pleases, taking his cronies with him and generally wrecking havoc. Evil has become a noted, formidable force that cannot be ignored even by those pretending to carry on.
Those who aren't trying to prevent the end of the world from happening are struggling to get by, and barely making it. In this dark time, even the Muggles are starting to notice a change in the world, that things are growing darker, and colder. Will you fight when the time comes, and who will you stand by? Will you be a student, living your life at the school and watching as the war rages on, or will you be an adult, actively fighting on a side?
Hallows and Horcruxes, which are you looking for, and why?
The Goodies.
That's right! While we are a Harry Potter forum, we do try to give it a twist of our own flavor. We have actual, interactive Quidditch games that students can participate in. A fully functional system of points and monies, ranging from graphic and writing competitions to actual jobs and stores where items can be purchased and used.
Is the canon character you wanted to play taken? Come and challenge! We invite anyone who would like to try their hand at a character to do the very best for that character. Granted, the person currently playing that character has every right to defend themselves, but no one is considered 'off limits' from a challenge... not even staff members!
If you aren't in the way to play a canon character all the time but sometimes get the urge to play Hermione every now and again, partake of our Polyjuice Portum, where all rules and characters are thrown aside so you can write to your heart's content. Want to play out what would happen if it were Harry and Hermione getting together instead of Harry and Ginny? Go for it! Want to see how strange things would be if Voldemort was a girl? Go for it! We want you to play what you want. We also have a very special forum dedicated to accepted members only, where fun and exciting conversations occur all the time.
There is more, much more, but why spoil the surprise? Come and find out for yourself.
The wizarding world is finally at rest, or so it seemed. Harry had defeated the Dark Lord, and now he and Ginny as well as the rest of the trio's era have gone on to have their own kids. As their kids are heading off to Hogwarts that mysterious dark mark in the sky is back. Who is the new dark lord and will he reek havock on the wizarding world just as Voldemort did? The time has come once again to choose sides.
There will be plenty for you to do and rp plots will be sent out as time goes on.
Marcus Flint had settled down and had changed his ways once he married Alexandra Edwards, or has he? Has having children changed him or is he worse than before? What is it that makes everyone fear the Flint name?
There is no longer just Hogwarts. There are now five other schools and are all open to students. Azkaban is no longer the cell for prisoners; rather headquaters for a new dawn in the wizarding world.
However, the Death Eaters aren't the only thing to be feared.
There are plenty of cannon's open and plot roles are up for grabs every month. Here the administrative team is friendly and wants you to join. We are open to plot ideas and hope to see you there!

Gifted Academy {X-Men} « Result #7 on Jul 29, 2008, 5:09pm »
Twenty years have wrought many changes to the Academy. Following Xavier's death, Wolverine stayed to watch over Rogue and the other students but disappeared after they matured and graduated. Storm continued to teach for a while until she was drawn to Africa and her family there. And so the school was left in the capable hands of a new generation.
Though times have changed and mutants are secretly becoming more integrated into society, there are still those who hate them with a passion: who wish nothing more than to rid the world of them. The 'miracle cure' developed twenty years ago was ineffective; its effects fading after only a few months. Now mutants risk their lives by revealing themselves to the world.
The mansion remains a safe haven for those wanting to live a good and safe life away from the persecution of the world around them. There, mutants are still trained to use their powers properly and responsibly. The X-men still exist as an established group and symbolize the growing need for mutant rights. Not that the 'normal' people of the world necessarily see it that way. In places the X-men are still perceived as a threat to society and are still treated with distrust. There is an uneasy truce between the worlds of humans and mutants.
The Brotherhood thrives under the continued leadership of Magneto, and still causes havoc throughout the world. They will do anything in their power to rid the world of non-mutants; believing that mutants are the supreme race and that the world belongs to them.
Where will you stand? Will you join with the X-men and reclaim a world where mutants and non-mutants can live in peace or will you join the Brotherhood to fight for the destruction of non-mutant kind?

A small town with about 8,000 good hard working Southern folk in it. Football Nights are like a religious holiday here. The girls pretty themselves up for a wild night of partying and sex every Tuesday and Thursday. When Monday rolls around, the kids are caught skipping to hang out at Montana’s or City Limits. Sometimes, the braver ones dare to go to McDowell’s Hole.
Twenty years ago, a program was re-introduced into Little Jimmy's perfect world. Honky Tonk Angels. An association where they took young high school students who had found themselves in trouble with the law and the harsher ways of life out of NYC into the country. There the students were placed with foster families for the year as they worked with the kids to straighten out their lives. The program still thrives today with the children of the original lifers and angels. Unfortunately much like the Little Rock, Arkansas disaster some of the folks in Little Jimmy aren't so...
Welcoming. The older families in town aren’t so welcoming towards the newcomers as some nasty words have been flying back and forth. It seems the town’s secrets of racism and prejudice seem to be leaking out at every turn. A team of low-end FBI agents has come to Little Jimmy in hopes of keeping the peace. However, can years of hatred and prejudice slip away like the wind? Or will relationships be tested and lines crossed?[/align]
"I'm afraid that I cannot share the particulars with you. I work in the Department of Mysteries; you understand. Suffice it to say that we seek to understand the differences between magic and Muggle; moreover, why they are different."
"An Unspeakable?...Humor me, are you really trying breed a new race of Super Blast-Ended Skrewts to use in a war against the French wizarding community?"
"I'm afraid the truth of our work is a great deal less amusing."
"I refuse to believe your work is boring. I'm sure you're working on something utterly fascinating, like trying to unlock the mysteries of the human soul."
"Do you find the human soul fascinating?"
"Well, yes, I suppose I do. It is the very essence of who we are. It transcends death itself. That's what makes the Dementors so utterly terrifying. They weren't just destroying your body, they were destroying your very being. You can exist without a body, ghosts are proof of that...but your soul is everything."

Or will they meet the same unfortunate fate as their predecessors? It's the new Wizarding world, and here, the soul is everything.

- 1. extinction; destruction. - 2. the false belief that life comes to an end.
Everything has always been even. Ever since the World began, everything has had its counterpart. The Living and the Dead, the Light and the Dark. Heaven and Hell. There was pact, long before any of us existed, long before any of our ancestors existed, that agreed to never let the scales tip in the other's favor. A secret society, stretching from the dawn of time, has been devoted to maintaining these scales, keeping them in balance.
But everything has changed.
Temptation became too much for the ruler of Hell, and due to a miscalculation on the Society's part, the flaw has become to large to fix discreetly. The state of balance has been threatened, and the linings of the realms have started to rip apart. Hell has overpowered Heaven, and the Dead are beginning to overpower the Living. The people of Light and Dark have begun to appear, and nothing is as it once was. The Devil's Messengers and the Angels have begun to use the Living Realm as their battleground, and the Dead have risen from their graves, cold, unfeeling, and unhealing. The Shadows and the Prisms, the inhabitants of the realms of Light and Dark have ripped open the small tears in their dimension, and are now pouring from all sides. Chaos has ensued in this world, and the Scale Society is now in chaos due to it.
This was all predicted, however. Our souls have been saved for this moment, and though most try to block it out, there is no doubt that it is happening. Death is no longer a mystery, it is more real than it has ever been. The faces of the Dead are looking you in the eyes, and the universe is threatening to come to a complete stop. But in the end, it is the choices that we make that decide our future.
Step foot into a school where magic rules all, where the simmering of cauldrons, and the disappearances of socks are daily phenomena. A world where ghosts, students, and teachers carry on daily activities side by side, as if nothing in the world. Step foot into the American Academy of Magic. The academy founded during the Salem Witch Trials is home to students from all across the United States. Like any other school it has its ups and downs, shares of drama, but difference is that these students are learning how to deal with their magical powers on top of facing every day problems.
